Rocky Theme Song...

Well, I MADE it! I traversed the city of Tokyo. I began the day with two new friends from San Francisco, CA. We tackled the subway and reached our cooking class at the home of an American woman who has lived in Japan for the past 40 years, and has mastered Japanese cooking. Her goal was to introduce us to the varieties of miso and provide us with the whole Japanese experience.

Coming from Nebraska, miso is no stranger. It makes me wonder why Nebraska doesn’t perfect the fermentation of these wonderful soy beans. After 4 hours of tasting, cooking, and being instructed in all the intricacies of Japanese cooking and eating, we departed with another new friend who lives in Japan. She recommended a few unusual spots, and directed us to the correct subway. These places were very interesting needless to say.

After more shopping, and feet aching, I really wanted to head back to the hotel, when the one friend who I was left with ran into her neighbor from San Francisco! Small world! So, they directed me to the subway, and the brave little soldier I am, said I could make it back to the hotel by myself! I DID IT! I now know, that I can tackle about anything, having faced my fears and being in a city that speaks little, if not any English. I even was able to communicate with people and they did! I feel a lot like Rocky from the movie when he reached the top of the stairs! Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun...
